Ever wondered what happened to your classmates, your first love or the school sports star? Ever wondered if the swot became a doctor or the beauty queen became a model? Well it would seem that many of you do. With over 15 million members signed up to the original and most fascinating school reunion site, FriendsReunited.co.uk, it seems there is an unquenchable thirst for revisiting the good old days.
And now, after seven years uniting friends, the internet giant is setting out on the road for the first ever series of Big School Reunions. Bringing the concept to life, the events are set to tantalise secondary school leavers of all ages and reunite long lost friends against a nostalgic musical backdrop.
The national reunion tour starts in Birmingham on 4th May 2007 at The Works, one of the city's most celebrated venues. It then moves to Zanzibar in Leicester on 10th May and will stop off at Nottingham's Mode on 18th May completing the first leg of its UK journey. With two rooms of entertainment, the music will span four generations across 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s, guaranteed to stir the memories. Add in a series of surprise PA's featuring generational icons and this is set to be the best school reunion imaginable - and all pre-arranged so all you have to do is turn up!
In addition to tapping into its vast database, Friends Reunited will be working with all the local secondary schools to create brilliant bespoke events for each city. School photos will hang from the walls and plasma screens will beam out TV programmes from years gone by. The whole venue will be themed with stunning decor plus a kitsch but quality tuckshop will be selling classic sweets and confectionary to really awaken those taste buds and heighten the senses. This will take you back to your youth like never before and who knows, maybe you'll see a few old faces and a few surprises along the way as you take a fun filled trip down memory lane. You will also be able to update your profile at the event with images and messages throughout the night, creating instant memories.
So, whether you're already a member or haven't yet joined the phenomenon, head straight to www.friendsreunited.co.uk and find out who else will be attending from your school.
Whether you want to satisfy your curiosity, contact an old friend or even make new ones, this is an unmissable event for anyone who ever went to school. A night destined to be emotionally charged and fabulous fun... don you dancing shoes and get ready for the first series of BIG SCHOOL REUNIONS.
Friends Reunited was launched in July 2000 as a back bedroom hobby. A combination of word of mouth and immense media attention has propelled the site to phenomenon status, expanding beyond the school friends proposition to include workplaces, teams/clubs and streets. Friends Reunited has touched many thousands of lives, reuniting friends and family around the globe.
